ParentSquare - Setting Up Your Account

ParentSquare is a communication platform designed to keep parents and guardians informed about what is happening in your school. ParentSquare will encourage greater engagement and connection with HISD. It provides a safe way for district staff, school administrators, teachers, staff, and parents to send and receive school and class information. 

ParentSquare provides:  

• Smart Alerts: Get district and school-wide announcements at your fingertips! 
• Two-Way Communication: Send and receive real-time messages directly with teachers and administrators. 
• Translation: Send and receive messages and communications in your preferred language 

Creating a ParentSquare account gives you full access to important two-way communication with your child’s school. All families will receive messages  through text and email. Only those users who download the ParentSquare App will be able to send communication to their campus or teachers. With the App you can: 

• Send messages directly to teachers and school staff 
• Receive district-wide announcements and weather-related updates  
• Access important school information  
• Customize how and when you get notifications 

If you cannot  create an  account in ParentSquare, it is likely because your phone number or email is not correct in the student information system (Power School). To fix this, please update your phone and email at your child’s school. The email or phonenumber you use to Register in ParentSquare must be the same email in the student information systemin the District. 

If you are unable to access your account but have already previously registered, please reset your password from the app or the website.  

Resetting Your Password in the ParentSquare App 

1. Enter your email address on the login screen and select the "Forgot Password"? option that appears on the next screen. 
2. A verification code will be sent to your email address. Enter your verification code and select "Verify". 
3. Enter a new password in both the "New Password" and "Confirm Password" fields. Select "Change Password" to submit your new password. 

Resetting Your Password on the ParentSquare Website 

1. Select the "Forgot password? option within the "Sign In" box on the ParentSquare homepage.   
2. Enter your email address and select "Go".  
3. A message will then appear that an email has been sent with further instructions to reset your password.  
4. Within the email, select the "Reset Password" button 
5. Enter a new password in both the "Password" and "Password Confirmation" fields. Then select Update Password.  

If you do not receive an email to reset your password, please contact your school's front office to make sure your contact information is correct.   

Ensure that you complete the Annual Student Information Form to update your contact information. You can also contact your child’s school for more assistance.  

Your default language in ParentSquare is set to what you have indicated in the student information system. If you need to have this changed to another language, please contact your child's school.  

To maintain the overall security of the ParentSquare platform, device verification through multi-factor authentication (MFA) will soon be implemented for all users. Device verification helps protect your account. ParentSquare will ask for a code when you:  

• Log into ParentSquare from a new computer, phone, or tablet. 
• Haven’t verified your device in the last 6 months. 
• Log into ParentSquare from a shared device where someone else has logged in before.

In the ParentSquare App 

1. The current school view will appear at the top of your homepage. To switch schools, select the three lines in the top left corner of your screen.  
2. Then select the "Schools" icon in the left hand menu and then the desired school you would like to view.  
3. To navigate announcements from different classes at the same school or if you have multiple children at the same school, you can also customize your feed to those classes as well. After selecting the three lines in the top left corner on the homepage, select "Classes" in the left hand menu. Then select the desired class.
