Schoolinks Information for Parents

 

We are excited to share that our students, families, and counselors have access to SchooLinks, a modern college and career platform, to help with this process. SchooLinks offers features that allow students to explore, plan, and realize their postsecondary goals and provides ways for families to support this process. To get started in SchooLinks, use this document to learn how to create a guardian account. Once you have created a SchooLinks account, you can:

• Learn more about your student’s interests and what careers might be right for them;

• See the goals your student has set for after high school, including which colleges or careers they have favorited;

• Review your student’s course plans and how that fits with their college and career goals;

• See upcoming events related to college and career readiness at your school, as well as important reminders and to-dos for your student to complete;

• Explore and search for different colleges and careers so you can help your student plan and make decisions;

• Compare costs of different colleges, including financial aid options, and search for scholarships;

• Easily ask your student’s counselor questions through the platform;

• And connect your employer to your student’s school through SchooLinks if they are interested in supporting work-based learning opportunities or other partnerships.

 

 

HISD requires GT students to choose advanced leveled courses. If a student chooses to not select advanced levels, an opt-out form will be sent home to be signed by a parent or guardian for approval to opt-out of advanced leveled courses. This form will need to be returned to the student’s Counselor.

 

Parents can review the student course planner in SchooLinks. Click here for parent instructions on how to log into School Links. Click here for instructions on how to review the course plan your student selected. For any changes to be made to their course selections, students must visit their Counselor.

 

Personal Graduation Plans must be completed by all students in SchooLinks and signed by parents. Students met with their Counselors to complete their Personal Graduation Plans and were also emailed instructions on how to transfer it to SchooLinks.  Click here for instructions on how to view and approve the PGP within SchooLinks. A parent signature is required on all PGP’s.
