SAT Suite of Assessments at Bellaire H.S.
SAT Suite of Assessments @ Bellaire HS The SAT Suite of Assessments is designed to help students determine what they need to work on most so that they are ready for college when they graduate from high school—and it supports educators as they guide the way. Our scholars at Bellaire High School will be taking the Digital PSAT 8/9 and PSAT/NMSQT during the week of October 14th and SAT during the week of October 23rd .
Design of the Assessments
The Digital PSAT 8/9 tests the same skills and knowledge as the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, and PSAT 10—in a way that makes sense for eighth and ninth graders. It measures what they’re already learning, shows them whether they’re on track for college, and lets them know where they need the most improvement. That means students have time to tackle these areas long before they take the SAT. Only currently enrolled ninth graders will take this assessment. By taking the Digital PSAT 8/9, you’re also practicing for the PSAT 10, PSAT/NMSQT, and the SAT—giving you the confidence of knowing what to expect. Your score report will show you which subjects you're good at—and which ones you may need to focus on more. Plus, you'll see if you're ready for college-level AP courses in high school.
The Digital PSAT/NMSQT is an assessment students can take and earn scores that can qualify them for the National Merit Scholarship Program and other scholarships. Like PSAT 8/9, there are two sections: Reading/Writing and Mathematics; and the time for the test is roughly 2 hours and 14 minutes. Currently enrolled tenth and eleventh graders
The Digital SAT is the opportunity for our students to now show the colleges that they are ready! Again, there are two sections: Reading/Writing and Mathematics, and the time limit to take the same is about 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Personalized Practice
All students over 13 can share their scores with Khan Academy® to create a personalized practice experience. It's the best way to prepare for other tests in the SAT Suite of Assessments, and it's free. We encourage ALL students to create an account on The College Board website so they can access all the wonderful resources available to them, and when scores are ready; students can access them quickly via their College Board account. The same habits and choices that lead to success in school will help you get ready for all the SAT Suite of Assessments. The best way to prepare is to:
● Take challenging courses
● Do your homework
● Prepare for tests and quizzes
● Ask and answer lots of questions
● Take charge of your education and learn as much as you can.
Explore Your Future Career
Students will have an opportunity to connect their results to Career Finder, BigFuture, a tool that helps you discover careers based on your interests, once they set up their account with The College Board. This is optional and not required, but helpful as students are trying to determine which career path they want to choose after high school.
Parent Communication and Scores
Parents can review scores with their children online. Scores are typically available online 4-6 weeks after students take the test. There is also additional information about each test in the SAT Suite of Assessments if you want to learn, click here.
