Important Magnet Dates

*12/09/2025- Phase 1 opens; applications must be submitted online at https://www.houstonisd.org/schoolchoice

*02/11/2026 - Phase 1 closes; Last date to change application ranks. 

*03/19/2026 - Notifications of lottery results available; Phase 2 opens. 

*04/01/2026- Last day to provide proof of residence and signed entrance agreements for seats offered in Phase 1, or spaces will no longer be guaranteed.

Below is the updated message under the Tab “How to apply”

The Magnet Program at Bellaire High School is only for students who live outside the Bellaire Attendance Zone.

Application Steps:

  1. The application must be completed online through the HISD School of Choice website.
  2. Click “Apply Now” and follow the steps to fill in demographic information and upload any needed documents.
  3. Completed applications for 26-27 will be accepted starting 12/09/2025, and they must be submitted no later than 02/11/2026 to be considered in the first round of applicants.
  4. Lottery results will be sent out on 03/19/2026. The last day to accept a seat offered in Phase 1 is 04/01/2026. Correct Proof of Residence must be provided within 14 calendar days starting 03/19/2026.
  5. Phase 2 opens on 03/19/2026. Applications in Phase 2 will only be considered depending on space availability.

Eligibility Requirement:

For an application to Bellaire High School’s World Language Magnet Program to be considered for the lottery, an applicant must meet the matrix score of 80. An application will not be considered for the lottery unless the matrix score is met. Please click this link to check how the matrix is calculated. If the student is not attending an HISD school, you must upload your previous year's final report card for the matrix score to be calculated. 

Registration:

We will have a Magnet Information Night when incoming magnet students can sign contracts and receive enrollment packets. The specific date and time will be emailed to incoming magnet students who have accepted a seat and uploaded the correct Proof of Residence documents.
