This is an important date update from a message posted in our ENews on Sunday. January 11: The deadline for Seniors to complete Edgenuity Units and Clear NGs is Feb. 2. 9-11th-grade students have until Feb. 23. Students must earn a score of 70 or higher on the Units assigned to them in Edgenuity for Unit Credit.
We will NOT host an attendance camp on Jan. 26th due to change in policy to recover credit. All NGs at this time, must be cleared through completing Units in Edgenuity.
Seniors and Juniors have been assigned Edgeunity Units to begin working at this time. We are enrolling 9-10 students in the Units they need at this time. Students should continue to check Edgenuity for assignments.
Per the Texas Education Code 25.092 and HISD FEC ( Local) a minimum attendance requirement of 90% of class meetings must be met before credit can be awarded for the course. At HISD, missing more than 10 percent of school a year can lead to a student not receiving a grade (NG) or being retained, but more importantly, it represents lost time in the classroom and a lost opportunity to learn. Students who received an NG on their Report Card must complete Credit Restoration. In the fall, students had the opportunity to attend Saturday School to earn time towards NGs. HISD has implemented a new system for students to recover credits (NGs). Students who did not earn time, or enough time, during Saturday School to recover credit will be enrolled in Edgenuity courses this week and assigned units to complete. The number of units a student is assigned is determined by the percentage of time missed in the course in which they earned the NG.
